This hands-on workshop with Amy Turk and Lauren Scott is an opportunity to work with two musicians who invent and collaborate, and who take charge of their own musical careers & destinies.
In an ever-evolving musical landscape, the 21st-century harpist needs an open mind and
ears, and a wide understanding of different musical styles and techniques.
We will hear how Lauren & Amy developed their individual careers as professional harpists, and focus on percussive and extended harp techniques.
Extend your harp’s sonic potential and become a one-harp band! From musical concept (why use extended techniques?) to hands-on learning, you will see and hear first-hand how these highly imaginative and colourful sounds work within Amy & Lauren’s compositions. At the end you will be ready to tackle more styles of music than ever before, and have a whole host of new ideas to create music of your own.
Venue information
Silk Street Theatre, Music Hall and Lecture Recital Room are located in the main Guildhall School building on Silk Street and for Barbican produced events the venue can also be accessed from the Barbican if you exit via the doors next to Barbican Kitchen on Level G.
