Our programme of Autumn Evening courses covers music, drama, writing and more.
The courses are for those aged 18 and over and run on weekday evenings for up to eight weeks from Tuesday 22 September.
Our in-person courses take place across Guildhall School's campus in central London, which includes the state-of-the-art Milton Court and our iconic Silk Street building.
Alternatively, join us from wherever you are in the world with our online short courses.

Acting for Camera: Level 1
Tuesdays, 7–9pm, 22 September–27 October 2026
Age: 18+
A new course that offers an introduction to screen acting. Explore a variety of on-screen acting techniques that will help to deliver an authentic and truthful performance.

Acting through Song
Tuesdays, 7–9pm, 22 September–27 October 2026
Age: 18+
A practical course for performers exploring techniques for acting through song. Delve into the world of musical theatre, pop and folk singing, and develop your knowledge of contemporary acting and singing techniques.

Acting Shakespeare
Wednesdays, 7–9pm, 23 September–28 October 2026
Age: 18+
Taught by one of the UK's leading classical actors, this course will give you the tools you need to approach and perform Shakespeare with confidence.

Improvisation: Level 1

Join this exciting course for enjoyable evenings of comedy and drama improvisation. Meet and learn with like-minded individuals and brighten up your week while enhancing your skills in creative thinking, teamwork and storytelling.

Introduction to Acting Practice: Level 1
Course 1: Tuesdays, 7–9pm, 22 September–27 October 2026
Course 2: Wednesdays, 7–9pm, 23 September–28 October 2026
Age: 18+
This course for beginners explores what 'good acting' might be and how to achieve it. During the six sessions you will work with the course tutor to develop truthfulness and connection to text.

Introduction to Acting Practice: Level 2

Course 2: Wednesdays, 7–9pm, 23 September–11 November 2026
Age: 18+
Further develop your work and grow as an actor, focussing on building confidence through regular scene rehearsals and group sharing. This course helps participants to develop new ways to approach characters and connect to text.

Introduction to Theatre Making
Wednesdays, 7–9pm, 23 September–28 October 2026
Age: 18+
This new course is designed to develop your skills as a theatre-maker. Through a combination of theory-based learning and practical workshops, you'll learn how to take an idea from initial concept through to an early work-in-progress.

Monologues: Connecting to the Text
Tuesdays, 7–9pm, 22 September–27 October 2026
Age: 18+
This course will empower actors to command any audition room and provide them with the tools to unpack even the most challenging script.

Singing for Beginners
Wednesdays, 7–9pm, 23 September–11 November 2026
Age: 18+
Build your confidence and improve your voice with this introductory course. Using songs from a variety of genres, the course will cover breathing, vocal warm-ups and dynamics in singing, and explore colour, texture and expression in song.

Writing for an Orchestra: Beginners
Tuesdays, 7–9pm, 22 September–3 November 2026
Age: 18+
Perfect for any composers and musicians with a passion for orchestral music, this course will use musical excerpts to demonstrate the basics of composing for the instruments of an orchestra.

Creative Writing for Live Performance: Level 1
Tuesdays, 7–9pm, 22 September–27 October 2026
Age: 18+
The course will focus on sparking ideas and creating theatre through text, with an active approach to playwriting and creative writing that will bring writers away from their desks.

Writing for Screen: Level 2

This course will develop your writing skills and take your script to the next level by focusing on TV development, pitching to agents and production companies and getting your pilot script screen ready.

Theatre Uncovered: Understanding Stagecraft

Age: 18+
This course will take participants behind the scenes to explore a theatre-maker’s toolkit. From design to direction, and acting to sound, we’ll unveil the ingredients used in creating a production.

Resolume for Live Events
Tuesdays, 6.45–8.45pm BST (UTC+1), 22 September–27 October 2026
Age: 18+
This new online six-week course will teach you the fundamentals of working with the Resolume Avenue/Arena software to trigger, blend and manipulate video for live events or content creation.

Film Music Composition: Beginners

This six-week online course will develop your skills in writing, producing and mixing electronic and orchestral music for a wide range of film genres, including horror/sci-fi, animation, action and commercials.

This six-week online evening course will cover a wide range of topics designed to expand your knowledge and understanding of music technology, whilst improving the quality of your productions.

Writing for an Orchestra: Intermediate
Wednesdays, 6.30–8.30pm BST (UTC+1), 23 September–28 October 2026
Age: 18+
The course will explore techniques of orchestration that have been employed by history’s great composers through a combination of score study and listening. In addition, you will be guided through a series of short orchestration assignments, providing you with practical experience of how to use these techniques for yourself.
