Guildhall Young Artists Taunton Free Workshops and Events
Guildhall Young Artists (GYA) Taunton hosts free workshops and masterclasses throughout the day from students and alumni from Guildhall School of Music & Drama, as well as professional artists visiting the Southwest.
Workshops and masterclasses are open to all GYA Taunton students. We also very much welcome anyone who is not a GYA Taunton member and interested to find out more about our performing arts centre.

Mini-masterclasses with the musicians of piano trio from Guildhall School, the Albero Trio: Saturday 7 June, 2pm-2.45pm
At Guildhall Young Artists Taunton, at Richard Huish College, Taunton
A free opportunity for all young players of violin/viola, cello and piano (ideally Grade 3+) to come and experience a mini-masterclass with the musicians of the Albero Trio.
The workshop is for all young musicians from Guildhall Young Artists Taunton and any other young musicians under 19 years of age. Players should be Grade 3 equivalent or above, i.e. comfortable with their instrument.
Free admission but advance booking is essential.
Before the mini-masterclass, join us for a special performance by the Albero Trio from Guildhall School, performing Brahms' Piano Trio in C minor op.101 and Pale Yellow from Jennifer Higdon's Piano Trio. Free admission, all welcome.

ABOUT THE MUSICIANS OF THE ALBERO TRIO
Kayla Nicol is a violinist studying at Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Simon Blendis, where she is a recipient of the Frederic William Trevena scholarship. Previously Kayla has been the principal violinist of the National Childrens Orchestra (2018), Junior Guildhall String Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra (2021-2022) and Co-Principal of the National Youth String Orchestra in 2021. More recently Kayla plays with groups around London such as Fidelio Orchestra, LUMOS candlelight events and in 2024 was the solo violinist in the West End musical 'Marie Curie' in 2024. She was also the co-principal of Guildhall Symphony Orchestra in May 2025 and performed in the Barbican Hall. As a chamber musician Kayla has performed at the Fidelio Café alongside pianist Lucas Debargue, and has previously performed at the Cambridge Summer Music Festival as a member of the Albero Trio.
Josh Lucas is a cellist currently studying at Guildhall School of Music with Jonathan Aasgaard, where he is a grateful recipient of the Innholders Scholarship. Josh grew up in Essex and took part in local chamber music and youth orchestras from an early age before joining the National Youth Orchestra in 2021. Since beginning his studies at Guildhall, Josh has won the St James String Ensemble Prize, performed several times with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra in Barbican Hall, and performed in a public masterclass for Leonid Gorokhov. As a chamber musician he has recently performed in the Cambridge Summer Music festival, the Guildhall Chamber Festival, and the Arte Lirica festival in Veneto, Italy.
Owen Lee won a scholarship to the PianoMan scheme in 2017, studying in London until the age of 18 with Richard Meyrick, Gabriele Baldocci and Veronika Ilinskaya. In 2022 Owen begun studying with Carole Presland as a scholar at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and in 2024 was a finalist in the school’s Romantic Piano Prize. Aside from solo playing, Owen is also involved in accompanying and chamber music work. As a member of the Albero Trio he was able to play at the 2024 Cambridge Summer Music Festival. Owen is also a second-study trumpet student and has played with orchestras such as YMSO and the Britten Sinfonia Academy as well as the Guildhall Big Band.
