After leaving the Guildhall, a busy and varied freelance career followed, covering all genres from early music to big band, West End theatre to opera and ballet, but mainly as a session musician for recording artists, film and tv soundtracks.

In 1999 he joined the London Philharmonic and enjoyed 7 years with them before returning to a freelance existence.

Through his work on the James Bond, Marvel, Lord of the Rings, Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Jason Bourne, Dark Knight, Narnia and Shrek series' soundtracks among hundreds of others and recording and performing with the likes of Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Stormzy, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Robbie Williams, George Michael, Joni Mitchell and Shirley Bassey, he has unknowingly been heard by millions.

Teaching has always been an important part of his working life, previously at Trinity Laban and the Royal College of Music. He has also taught and delivered masterclasses in the USA, Japan, Taiwan, China, Russia and Europe.

In 2016 he was appointed Principal Bass Trombone with the BBC Concert Orchestra and enjoys their eclectic output which makes the most of his varied playing experience.
