Biography

Christian Garrick is an award-winning British jazz violinist, composer and band leader. In 1993 he became the first non-classical violin graduate of London's Royal Academy of Music and a year later gained the Academy's top accolade, the DipRAM. Christian has recorded several solo albums with his second, Different Strokes, becoming acclaimed as the Jazz Album of the Year in 1998 by the Sunday Times. As a solo performer he has played with numerous notable artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Nigel Kennedy, Bireli Lagrene, Dolly Parton, All About Eve, Duffy, Caro Emerald, Van Morrison, Dame Cleo Laine and Sir John Dankworth.

Christian is the leader of the legendary Budapest Cafe Orchestra of Harringay. In the world of film and television Christian is a busy studio session musician and has added his violin to a wealth of film soundtracks including Les Miserables, The Hobbit, The Imaginarium of Dr Parnasus, Chocolat, Brideshead Revisited, La Vie En Rose, Chicago, Borat, An Ideal Husband, Tomorrow Never Dies and The Book Of Life.

He is currently featured heavily on the soundtrack to the tv show Poldark. He is a professor of jazz violin studies at the Royal Academy, Royal College and Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.
