Biography & Pure profile
Claudia Carrey is an Italian violinist, born in Paris and raised in London. She began her studies at the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music (RCM) under the guidance of renowned violin pedagogue Lyutsia Ibragimova. During her time at the RCM, she won the Marjorie Humby Prize for best soloist performance.
Claudia has received international acclaim as a prize-winner in several major competitions. In 2025, she was awarded the Absolute First Prize and Beethoven Virtuosic Performance Special Award at the Beethoven International Music Competition (UK), the Platinum Prize at the European Strings & Voice Odyssey Awards, and Gold Prizes at both the Global Genius Music Competition and the World Master Open Music Competition. She was also named a finalist at the Medici International Music Competition and won Special Mention in the Professional category.
Claudia holds a Bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the Royal College of Music, where she studied with the internationally acclaimed violinist Radu Blidar and Berent Korfker, assistant to the legendary Zakhar Bron. She later pursued further studies at the École Normale de Musique de Paris with Igor Volochine.
Throughout her training, Claudia took part in numerous masterclasses with distinguished artists including Zakhar Bron, Constantin Bogdanas (of the Enesco Quartet), Harold Herzl, and David Fruhwirth. She also spent several months in New York studying violin and chamber music with Daniel Phillips, leader of the Orion String Quartet and professor at the Juilliard School.
As a soloist, Claudia has performed at prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, the Brompton Oratory Chapel, St John Fisher Parish in London, the Terme di Caracalla in Rome, and Palazzo Ricci in Montepulciano. She was invited to perform at the 100th birthday celebration of Nobel Prize laureate and Italian senator Rita Levi-Montalcini.
Her orchestral experience includes performances under the direction of Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Roger Norrington, Peter Stark, and Nicolas Collon. Claudia has toured widely across Europe, appearing in leading venues such as Cadogan Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Salle Cortot, Salle Pleyel, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro Argentina, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Quirino in Rome, and Palais 12 in Brussels.
Claudia is the Founder and Artistic Director of Borderless Strings, a new artist-led ensemble bringing together twelve outstanding chamber string players and internationally renowned guest artists. The ensemble is all-inclusive, dedicated to uniting people through music beyond borders and backgrounds.
