Biography & Pure profile
Liz is an established vocalist, choral director, and soloist, known for her passionate and forward-thinking approach. Originally a saxophonist, Liz switched to singing and graduated from Guildhall with an MMus. Since then Liz has performed with artists such as The Swingles, Bobby McFerrin, Sam Smith, Jacob Collier, Ellie Goulding, The Heritage Orchestra, New York Voices, Paco Peña, the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra and London Voices and has toured all over the world, including the Montreux and London Jazz Festivals, La Scala Milan and the Proms. As a session singer, Liz has been heard on a range of scores and soundtracks for TV and film including Netflix, Marvel and Disney Studios, the BBC and Sky TV.
Liz is dedicated to innovation, widening participation, and lowering barriers to music education for all ages in the UK. Her experience of UK music education is extensive, and she has taught singing at Brunel and Kingston Universities, ICMP and throughout the state and independent sectors. She also worked as an examiner for RSL Awards for many years, and in 2020 Liz joined the Jazz Department at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama specialising in CCM vocal technique. She currently works as a singing education specialist providing educational strategy and singing activities to children and young people in state education for London West Music Hub.
As a choir leader she has worked for many community music initiatives, including the Southbank Centre, The Choir With No Name, B:Music Birmingham, and The National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, as well as numerous office and community choir interventions, including training choir leaders in vocal technique and leadership in singing For Lung Health for The Musical Breath. Liz also takes her skills as an educator and workshop leader all over the UK and Europe, teaching at vocal festivals and conferences such as the Aarhus Vocal Festival Denmark, and the Association of British Choral Directors.
