Create and Perform as part of MEI's New Sounds Festival 2024!
Create and Perform will make up the daytime programme of Music Education Islington's second annual New Sounds Festival. Bring your classes, ensembles or choirs to share their hard work and creativity with other Islington schools. There are two ways to join in:
Create: unleash your students’ inner composers! They could take on one of the London Sinfonietta’s Composition Challenges as a class, or get inspiration from elsewhere, to compose a new piece to be premiered on the stage of Milton Court.
Perform: showcase your school choir, brass band or simply the results from your whole class instrumental lessons to an audience of peers from across Islington. We welcome covers, from Bach to Billie Eilish.
There will be two sessions of Create and Perform, which will run as follows:
Session 1 – 10-11am
Session 2 – 11.30am-12.30pm
We will confirm your school's timeslot nearer the time so we can curate an appropriate programme.

Milton Court, based across the road from our Silk Street building, provides the School with world-class performance and training spaces, including a state of the art concert hall, a lyric theatre, a studio theatre and several major rehearsal rooms.
