Event information
We are delighted to welcome internationally renowned, award-winning pianist Sofya Gulyak to work with outstanding Guildhall pianists in this free, open masterclass.
Gulyak made history as the first woman to win First Prize and the Princess Mary Gold Medal at the Leeds International Piano Competition, and has since performed with major orchestras across Europe, Asia and North America, including the London Philharmonic, Hallé, St Petersburg Philharmonic and Shanghai Philharmonic. Her recordings of Russian piano music, Brahms and Chaconnes have drawn glowing reviews from Gramophone and The Guardian. She has taught in the keyboard faculty at the Royal College of Music and is currently Associate Professor of Piano at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music.
Join us in the excellent acoustics of Milton Court Concert Hall to see Gulyak work closely with Guildhall musicians, offering rare insight into her artistry and craft at the highest level.
"Sofya Gulyak is a fearless pianist, never afraid to scale the most technically demanding heights of the repertoire and equally proud to wear her heart on her sleeve." - The Observer
The session runs for 3 hours; audience members are welcome to drop in at any time and will be admitted at a suitable moment.
Free, no tickets required.
