Centre for Young Musicians Open Days

If you are interested in joining Centre for Young Musicians (CYM) we would encourage you to attend an Open Day.

Our Open Days will give you an opportunity to join tours held by The Friends of CYM (parents of current students) and view a range of classes and rehearsals.  You will also attend a welcome talk and Q&A with the Head of CYM.

Open days will be relaxed and informal, with all students invited to bring a family member or carer with them.

Upcoming Open Days are listed below.

Open Day FAQs

Which open day session should I attend?

You’ll get a good sense of life at CYM whichever session you attend.  However, the sessions taking place in the morning will be slanted towards students who will be in Year 4 to Year 8 in September, whilst afternoon sessions will be geared towards students who will be in Year 9 to Year 13 in September.

Where is CYM located?

CYM is located a short walk from London Waterloo. We are based over three sites on a Saturday— Morley College, Notre Dame Secondary School and Oasis Johanna Primary School. All sites are within a 5–10 minute walk of each other.

Do I have to stay for the entire session?

We recommend that you stay for the entire session so you can view a wide range of classes and rehearsals and hear from students and members of staff. Please arrive promptly for registration (by 10.15am for the morning session and 1.15pm for the afternoon session), as latecomers may not be able to join the tour.

I'm a parent/carer and I'd really like to attend with my child. Is that OK?

Absolutely. Visitors under 16 must have an accompanying adult with them.  Whilst this is not a requirement for those who are 16 or older, we still very much encourage that an adult is in attendance.

Unfortunately we can only allow one accompanying adult per child/young person to attend.  This is so we can allow as many visitors as possible to attend the Open Day.

What can I expect from the Open Day?  Do I need to bring an instrument?

Our Open Days are shaped to allow visitors to observe classes and rehearsals, view facilities and meet staff, students and parents.  You don’t need to bring an instrument.
