Biography & Pure profile
Bex is an actor, director, and drama practitioner with a lifelong passion for the arts.
Having trained in dance from the age of three she went on to study Performing Arts at Somerset College of Arts and Technology. At the age of eighteen, with the encouragement of her college tutor, she auditioned for drama school and was accepted to train for three years in Acting and Musical Theatre at Birmingham School of Speech and Drama.
Bex went on to work professionally for fifteen years across theatre, commercials, short films, corporate role play, and a variety of theatre-in-education tours. A keen traveller, she joined a local production of Daisy Pulls it Off which toured to The Gambia. Inspired by this experience and her love of Africa, she embraced the opportunity in 2016 to put her acting career on hold in order to teach drama full-time at an international school in Kenya. The three years she spent there had a profound impact on her, shaping her teaching philosophy and deepening her understanding of the transformative power of the arts across cultures.
On her return to the UK in 2019, Bex took up the position of drama teacher at The Beacon School in Buckinghamshire. During her teaching career, she has directed numerous productions, prepared students for drama scholarships, performance events and LAMDA examinations. She has also run summer courses and co-directed productions to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Drawing on her own life experiences and having worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds, Bex believes passionately in the arts and the power of drama to inspire and empower young people. She is dedicated to nurturing confidence, resilience, and self-expression in every student she works with.
