Biography

James Alexander studied singing with Gwen Appleby in Northern Ireland before coming to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama to study voice on the Associate Course with Arthur Reckless and William McAlpine. He left his studies at the Guildhall to take up the post of Orchestral Librarian for the school and subsequently became Music Assistant. He now leads the Music Office as Head of Music Administration. 

During his time at the School he has managed many projects, performances and tours working with the conductors such as William Christie, Sir Colin Davis, Sir Simon Rattle, Ton Koopman, Stephen Barlow, Paolo Olmi and Richard Hickox. He has co-ordinated the school's involvement with, amongst others, the Chelmsford, Spitalfields, Cambridge and Salzburg Easter Festivals and worked closely with the Royal Conservatory in the Hague, the Paris Conservatoire, Lyon Conservatoire, Berlin Philharmonic and Les Arts Florissants in projects for the School.
