Biography & Pure profile
Gary studied viola at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK where he enjoyed guidance in solo and chamber music by Mark Knight, Christopher Rowland and Thomas Riebl, and went on to study at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid.
Gary is a founder member of the Heath Quartet, who have live-recorded the complete string quartets of Michael Tippett and Béla Bartók, studio-recorded Tchaikovsky String Quartets 1 + 3 to critical acclaim and a Second Viennese disc of Berg and Schoenberg.
He has recently been guest principal viola with Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.
