Biography

Alison has over 20 years’ experience in music education across both school and conservatoire sectors and is currently Director of Guildhall Young Artists and Safeguarding, with responsibility for all under-18 courses in Music, Drama and Production Arts. This includes Junior Guildhall, Centre for Young Musicians and the London Schools Symphony Orchestra. She has also held other management posts at Guildhall School, including Head of Junior Guildhall. Alison was Principal Examiner for the Guildhall graded theory examinations and became a Fellow of Guildhall School in 2017.

Alison was Joint Artistic Director of the Lower Machen Festival, leading to its 50th Anniversary year in 2017. She has taught at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama Junior Department and worked in a freelance capacity for many Cardiff arts organisations. She was a member of the BBC National Chorus of Wales for 10 years and is currently an Arts Council of Wales Council Member.
