Biography

Matt graduated with a degree in Scenic Construction and Stage Properties before embarking on a career as a freelance prop maker and scenic carpenter on a wide range of projects. This included carpentry and metal fabrication work in theatres such as The Almeida Theatre and The Theatre Royal Stratford and Prop making work for music videos, exhibitions, private parties, corporate events, small scale theatre projects and Lego Land Windsor. He also, spent time working in Germany as a carpenter, prop maker and Technical Manager for a touring theatre company and even had the opportunity to take on the role as Set & Costume Designer for one season.

Matt started working in Higher Education at E15 Acting school in 2002 and became Construction Tutor and subsequently Head of Construction in 2003. After 11 years he went on to become Master Carpenter/Senior Tutor at Mountview Academy until he joined Guildhall as Construction Lecturer in 2017.

Matt completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Practice in 2014 and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
