Biography

Elaine Mitchener is a contemporary vocalist, movement artist and composer, whose practice encompasses improvisation, contemporary/experimental music and dance. She has worked and collaborated with numerous leading artists including Camae Ayewa (Moor Mother), Tansy Davies, George E. Lewis, Christian Marclay, Apartment House, London Sinfonietta, David Toop, Hannah Kendall, Van Huynh Company, Ensemble Manufaktur für aktuelle Musik, The Otolith Group. 

She is founder of collective electroacoustic trio The Rolling Calf with saxophonist Jason Yarde and bassist Neil Charles. Performances and commissions include Borealis Festival (Norway), Counterflows (Edinburgh), London Contemporary Music Festival,  Maerzmusik (Berlin), Portchester Castle (UK). Her sound works are held in a curated collection by George E Lewis for Darmstadt Festival.
