Biography

Simon Limbrick's involvement in music embraces performance, composing and education. He has recorded for EG Editions, Blue Note Records and ECM and created scores for leading national dance companies.

As a percussionist, he has performed in a wide range of musical contexts, including Alabama3, Apartment House, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, Gavin Bryars, Pete Lockett, Man Jumping, Lost Jockey, notes inegales and the LSO.

His world-premieres of solo pieces, include the composers, Javier Alvarez, Frederic Rzewski, Philip Cashian, Thea Musgrave and Ed Kelly. Recent creative work includes the online ‘dot machine’ and surfaces, a collaboration with the composer James Saunders. ‘Relay’, a double CD of music for contemporary steel-pan and electronics was released in 2014 and broadcast on a number of networks.

He created a score to be performed on the structure of a house, for the film ‘3 Church Walk’, directed by Emily Richardson and premiered at the London Film Festival. Six short performance films have been released and are currently viewable on Youtube.

Currently, Simon is researching for a PhD at Middlesex University.
