Biography

Jonathan Taylor is a pianist, composer and educator. Over the years he has worked with funk musicians Pee Wee Ellis and Fred Wesley, numerous jazz musicians including Iain Ballamy and Andy Sheppard, soul singer Ruby Turner and rock musician Robert Wyatt. He has written music for large and small ensembles, contemporary dance and music education projects. He is jazz co-ordinator at Junior Guildhall and is a music examiner for ABRSM. 

Jonathan is a founder member of the UK’s leading tango ensemble Tango Siempre. Recently, he was musical director for tours of ‘Tango Moderno’ and ‘Midnight Tango’ featuring dancers Vincent & Flavia and appeared with them on BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. Other theatre jobs include Edward Scissorhands, by choreographer Matthew Bourne. He has a folk band called Counter’s Creek and plays various types of Irish whistles when he is not practising scales and arpeggios on the piano.
