Sarah graduated with a BA in Music and a PGCE in Secondary Music at the University of Durham and then completed an MA in Psychology of Music at the University of Sheffield. 

As a pupil, Sarah attended the Kent Centre for Young Instrumentalists, a Saturday music school, an opportunity which has made her passionate about the benefits of music and arts education and delighted to be teaching at GYA Taunton. 

Sarah taught classroom music to ages 4-11 in one school for many years, also directing music for productions and teaching a full co-curricular musical programme. As well as teaching piano at GYA Taunton, Sarah works for Somerset Music and enjoys a variety of whole class and individual music teaching in both primary and secondary schools. 

Sarah plays the cello (and sometimes the flute and piccolo!) in the Somerset County Orchestra, plays in a cello quintet and teaches piano from home. She is also a fan of bucket drumming!
