Biography

Sue has over 30 years experience teaching the horn at secondary and tertiary level specialist music institutions.  She has held teaching posts at many of the UK Conservatoires and The Purcell School and is now London-based at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal College of Music Junior Department. She is also a tutor for NYOGB and NYOInspire. 

She has engaged in a diverse array of courses as continued professional development to support her teaching. Most notably she completed with Distinction a Postgraduate Certificate for Performance Teaching (GSMD).  She also became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). 

For many years Sue worked additionally as a freelance musician and was a member of the The  Academy of St Martin in the Fields. She has considerable experience as a chamber musician playing with such groups as The Endymion Ensemble, The Albion Ensemble and Configure8. As a specialist in period instruments, she held Principal positions with the Orchestre Revoltionnaire et Romantique, The English Baroque Soloists (Gardiner) and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra (Koopman), all with whom she recorded extensively.
