Biography & Pure profile
What's been your highlight during your time at Guildhall?
For me, my highlight is seeing pieces I have created used on stage and as part of such a wonderfully collaborative work of art put on by my friends and peers. Be this props being interacted with, costumes worn or sets creating worlds, the joy of seeing my pieces used in a performance for only the people in the room for that performance instead of just viewed as an art piece is something very special and unique to theatre.
What other passions and projects have you enjoyed exploring during your time at Guildhall?
I have found a real passion for design, working with designers has been a collaborative process due to often encouraging input from the maker which I have greatly enjoyed. I also found making my Model Box for Pullman’s novel “His Dark Materials” something really rewarding and feeling desperate to see it translated onto stage!
I have had the chance to make a working dragon fountain, paint textures and frescos, learn to weld and do wigs and makeup, this breadth of interest, I hope, puts me in good stead for the industry.
What are you most interested in working in after you graduate?
After I graduate, I would like to freelance across many disciplines, at Guildhall I have had the unique experience of doing a first year in Costume before completing my degree in Design Realisation. I have greatly strengthened a passion for making and painting which I have been obsessed by since I could hold a pencil. I would love to further explore the world of costume props, makeup and scenic art for opera, theatre and fashion.
