Emily Wilson (Stage Management)

What's been your highlight during your time at Guildhall?

My highlight at Guildhall so far was working on Children of the Sun as an Assistant Stage Manager. The show had scene changes with lots of moving and flying set pieces, so it was a great opportunity to learn how to navigate a complex scene change with lots of moving parts. I really enjoyed working with a large stage management team too as we all worked really well as a team!

What's been your highlight in the industry?

I had the opportunity to work as an ASM with the Royal Albert Hall on the London Community Gospel Choir’s annual show. It was an amazing experience to work in such an iconic venue, and it was a great insight into being a part of a professional stage management team. I also worked backstage on the immersive show You Me Bum Bum Train, which was an incredible introduction to immersive theatre and how different it is to traditional end-on theatre. 

What are you most interested in working in after you graduate?

I would like to keep my options open but ideally, I would love to work as an ASM working my way up to an SM on a musical or play in the West End or a touring show. Alternatively, I would love to work in immersive theatre as I love how unique it is for each audience member. I love stage management as I feel like I thrive during tech and shows, so the dream is to continue doing this!
