Event information

Guildhall Studio Ensemble collaborates with Lauren Kinsella and Chris Hyson – the creative duo behind the acclaimed project Snowpoet – for an evening of expansive, reimagined works for large ensemble.

Blending jazz, electronica and poetic lyricism, Snowpoet’s sound world is intimate yet cinematic. Kinsella and Hyson continue to solidify their position as one of the most innovative and emotionally resonant bands in the UK’s jazz-adjacent and electronic-acoustic crossover scene.

This concert revisits music from across Snowpoet’s albums, including the latest release Heartstrings, in lush new orchestrations created especially for Guildhall musicians.

In an interview with Snowpoet ahead of this concert, Lauren Kinsella and Chris Hyson said: "Songs capture a moment in time so to revisit them in a new light offers a fresh perspective and another way of hearing and feeling the music.

So much skill has gone into these arrangements and it’ll be a celebration not only of our music but also of the brilliant and inspiring GSMD students and the arrangers Sam Gale, Jude Lane, Ryan MacKenzie and Scott Stroman."
