Biography & Pure profile

Yiyi Su is a classical pianist and chamber musician, recognised for her versatility as both a soloist and collaborative artist. 

Originally from Guangdong, China, she has been based in the UK since 2016 and currently works at Wells Cathedral School as well as Guildhall Young Artists Taunton. 

Yiyi holds honours degrees from both the Royal College of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), where she studied under Professors Gordon Fergus Thompson and Graham Scott. Whilst studying, Yiyi received the ABRSM Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award and the Tillett Trust Musician Award. 

Throughout her career, Yiyi has received numerous accolades, including First Prize at the Watford International Piano Competition (2022) and the RNCM Symphony Concerto Prize (2022), where she performed Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra. 

Yiyi has appeared on international stages, including the James Mottram International Piano Competition (2023), the International Mendelssohn Festival in Hamburg (2023), and the Piano Campus International Competition in Paris (2023), where she reached the semi-finals. 

As a collaborative artist, Yiyi has worked with acclaimed musicians, including UK cellist Alexander Baillie, and has performed major works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schubert, and Brahms. Recent highlights include being a semi-finalist at the Piano Campus International Competition in Paris and performing as an invited artist at the Lake District Music Series (2022).
