Guildhall School returns to grassroots venue Grow Hackney for Charge, a summer showcase spotlighting students from the Electronic & Produced Music (EPM) department.
In line with the venue’s ethos of supporting the local music scene and giving a platform to emerging artists, Charge provides the opportunity for talented artists and performers from the department to take the stage as well as connecting them to the music industry.
Come along for a night of original music journeying through a wide range of genres from alt-folk to experimental electronica, in the image of the EPM department’s eclectic musical offering.

About the artists
Thorby creates improvised, high-energy live sets using analogue synths and electronics, joined by drummer Jonah Phillips. Blurring the lines between club and experimental, their sound is spontaneous, genre-crossing, and built for the dancefloor.
Sister is the sibling duo of Sonny and Sadie, fusing gritty riffs, dark melodies, and soaring choruses. Influenced by Genesis, ELO, and DJO, their sound is nostalgic yet fresh — a bold, cinematic take on alt-pop that’s both raw and emotionally charged.
James Józef is a London-based alt-folk artist, songwriter and producer. With poetic lyrics and delicate arrangements, his music explores vulnerability and reflection, drawing on influences like Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley and Adrianne Lenke.
