Music Education Islington tutor vacancies

Music Education Islington (MEI) is the music hub for the London Borough of Islington. MEI is led by Islington Council and Guildhall School of Music & Drama, in partnership with Music in Secondary Schools Trust and leading arts organisations and funders.
We are looking for a number of motivated, self-employed tutors to teach in primary schools and our MEI Music Centres across Islington, to start in September. Applicants should have good experience of whole class, small group and individual teaching, including experience of teaching mixed ability groups and enjoy working with students of all ages.
Candidates need to have public liability insurance and must have an Enhanced DBS Check. This should be dated within the last two years or you will need to provide proof of being subscribed to the Update Service. Music Education Islington is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people and expect all tutors to share in this commitment.
All tutors have access to Charanga music school which provides a wide range of resources across all instrument as well as singing and curriculum teaching.

Classroom teaching with a strong focus on singing (+ one instrument, ideally brass)
This school is looking for a teacher/tutor who is able to improve the schools singing and can deliver an instrument (whole class) with a preference for brass, but other instruments will be considered. The school is looking for someone with strong behaviour management skills and will be able to work in an Anglican church school, i.e. prepare students for regular services and assemblies. The school is looking for someone who can teach all 39 school weeks, not only our regular 10 week per term contract.
The school is one of our Music Centre Schools with a large number of children attending the MEI Music Centre at Highbury Grove.

Teaching days and hours: teaching days Tuesday/Wednesday, 1.5 teaching days

Musicianship for various ages in after school Music Centres
We are looking to roll out musicianship classes across MEI’s three Music Centres, teaching beginner to more advanced students. Music Centres are taking place on Mondays and Wednesdays during term-time in three different secondary schools across Islington. We will provide tutors with a curriculum and weekly planner for activities and teaching content. Musicianship classes are based on Kodaly, but other elements can be brought in. Musicianship teacher may also help with the delivery of other instrumental or vocal lessons, as well as ensemble provision.
Teaching days and hours: Mondays and Wednesday, after school, between 2 and 2.5 hours
MEI Music Centre from primary to secondary
Small group clarinet and keyboard teaching
This is a clarinet and keyboard teaching opportunity across two schools working in partnership. Both schools run small group clarinet lessons. One of them want to offer clarinet and keyboard. Teaching must be done by the same tutor, as the division between keyboard and clarinet will depend on the sign up of students.
Teaching days and hours:
School 1: Tuesdays 1.30-3.30 small group clarinet lessons
School 2: Fridays 3 hours, small group clarinet, keyboard and – if possible guitar

Whole class string teaching
This is a teaching opportunity to support the music curriculum provision by teaching whole class violin at one of our primary schools. The school follows the Music Modal Curriculum using the online school Charanga for its delivery. Those interested should have an understanding of the curriculum units and plan their violin lessons accordingly, ideally using resources available on Charanga.
The school is one of our Music Centre Schools, very supportive of music and the opportunity to give more children an opportunity to gain access to an instrument.
The school would like to interview/speak to potential candidates before finalising the arrangement.
