Biography

Love of music and the joy of performing are at the core of Ronan’s teaching philosophy.

Having completed his undergraduate studies and string teaching certification at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Ronan continued his studies at master’s level as a scholar at TrinityLaban Conservatoire with a particular focus on chamber music and string pedagogy.

Ronan’s passion for education has defined his career. He has had more than fifteen years’ experience in directing string ensembles, providing musicianship training and teaching in both one-to-one and group settings. Ronan takes pride in seeing the joy and gratification that even the youngest of students can gain from studying music and playing an instrument.

Beyond education Ronan enjoys an active career as a freelance orchestral and chamber musician. He has performed around the UK and has toured across Europe, Asia and the USA with many leading orchestras and chamber ensembles. He takes particular interest in performing with musical theatre and opera productions, playing both violin and viola during annual tours of France and Italy for the summer opera season.

In his spare time Ronan participates in fundraising charity work through giving recitals and hosting Ceilidh and Folk Music events. He also enjoys an active and healthy lifestyle. His hobbies include swimming and scuba diving, and as a running enthusiast, he has completed the London Marathon multiple times on behalf of the NSPCC and Children With Cancer charities.
