Biography

Since graduating from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 2004, where she had been granted a 4-year scholarship to study with Professor Yfrah Neaman, Yana Burova has appeared in major venues such as Chelmsford Cathedral, St Martin in-the-Fields, St John’s Smith Square, St Paul’s Cathedral, Leighton House Museum, Kings Place (where she performed with the world-renowned Chilingirian Quartet) and in 2013 she made her debut performance at the Wigmore Hall. 

Yana participates in festivals throughout England and Europe; she regularly appears in her home town at the Varna International Summer Festival where, in 2016, she performed two Vivaldi concertos for two violins and orchestra with her brother Dimitar Burov and the Varna String Orchestra under the baton of Plamen Djurov. Yana has also participated in the Sofia Musical Weeks and in November 2016 she performed the Dvorak Piano Quintet with Ludmil Angelov, Dimitar Burov, Michael Gieler and Gerard Le Feuvre at the Conway Hall as part of the 4th London Festival of Bulgarian Culture. 

Her performances are often broadcast and she has recorded two CDs. In 2006 she released a CD featuring music for Violin and Piano by 20th century Bulgarian Composers. In 2011 she recorded the world premiere of “Clarinet Quintet” written by Richard Rodney Bennett, with her String Quartet “Inspirity.” In 2012 Yana recorded the Respighi Sonata for violin and piano in B minor with her regular pianist Fiametta Tarli.

In addition to performing, Yana teaches the  violin and viola at Emanuel School in London, Eltham Church of England School and has recently been appointed at Junior Guildhall School.
