Guildhall School presents Gianandrea Noseda with Honorary Fellowship

Gianandrea Noseda fellowship

Guildhall School has presented conductor Gianandrea Noseda – one of the world’s most respected conductors – with an Honorary Fellowship, the School’s highest accolade.

Gianandrea Noseda is currently in his ninth season as Music Director of Washington, D.C.’s National Symphony Orchestra, and has held the role of General Music Director of Zurich Opera House since 2021.

He has been Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) since the 2016/17 season, appearing regularly with the orchestra at the nearby Barbican Hall. During this time, students at Guildhall have benefited greatly through the School’s close association with the LSO, with the conductor making repeat visits to share his artistry and passion with students, including through the Orchestral Artistry programme

Gianandrea Noseda returned to Guildhall School to receive his Honorary Fellowship, rehearsing Tchaikovsky's Francesca da Rimini with students, before a full playthrough of the work following the conferment of his Fellowship by the School’s Deputy Chair, Caroline Haines. Responding to the citation delivered by Guildhall Principal, Professor Jonathan Vaughan FGS, Gianandrea Noseda commented on the importance of looking after the next generation of talent, and the value he places on his – and the LSO’s –  connection with Guildhall School and its students.
