Guildhall School musicians and artists to create a groundbreaking Drum & Bass marching band for the first ever Lady Mayor’s Show, with support from leading real estate company Dominus

The breadth of talent and creativity found at Guildhall School will be displayed as part of the first ever Lady Mayor’s Show on Saturday 8 November 2025, when musicians and artists from across the School’s community come together to perform in the historic procession through the City of London.

Sixty wind, brass and percussion students from the School’s Guildhall Young Artists (GYA) network will form a groundbreaking Drum & Bass marching band, adding a contemporary take on the oldest civic procession in the world. The band’s musicians, all between the ages of 13 and 18, are drawn from Junior Guildhall, Centre for Young Musicians, GYA King’s Cross and GYA Online. They will be joined in the procession by a DJ truck, playing Drum & Bass arrangements and tracks from Guildhall Electronic & Produced Music cohort. The students will come together in collaboration with Guildhall Production Studio, the School’s award-winning, full-service production studio.

Guildhall School’s participation in the Lady Mayor’s Show is made possible thanks to the support of Dominus, a leading real estate developer, owner and operator in London and other major cities across the UK. This builds on the School’s existing partnership with Dominus funding an annual scholarship for one of Guildhall’s talented students.

The Lady Mayor’s Show will see Dame Susan Langley DBE become the 697th Lord Mayor of London – only the third woman to hold the post in over 800 years, and the first ever to be titled the ‘Lady Mayor of London’.

Spencer Down, Creative Director at Guildhall Young Artists, said: “We’re very excited for the brilliant musicians of Guildhall Young Artists to play a part in the first ever Lady Mayor’s show, creating a Drum & Bass band for what we’re sure must also be the first time in the procession’s long history! Coming together with colleagues from Guildhall Production Studio and Guildhall School, the procession provides a wonderful moment to showcase the youthful energy and talents of our students, within the impressive pomp and pageantry of this historic occasion.

We’re very grateful to our friends at Dominus for supporting our involvement in the Lady’s Mayor’s Show, creating opportunities for young people that would otherwise not be possible.”

Jay Ahluwalia, Principal Director at Dominus, said: “We’re delighted to strengthen our partnership with Guildhall School of Music & Drama by supporting its participation in the first ever Lady Mayor’s Show. As a business committed to creating opportunities for young people and the long-term success of London, we look forward to celebrating this historic milestone and the creative talents of the next generation in the world’s cultural capital.”
