Biography

What's been your highlight during your time at Guildhall?

Working on my Grad Project - '2005 Series Dalek'. I enjoyed making my own detailed, life size prop, to my own specifications and timetabled hours. Unfortunately it was cut short due to the school closing down, but as soon as it re-opens again, I plan to finish it all off!

What's been your highlight in the industry?

Getting to meet all the friendly and eccentric people, and the knowledge they share with you. Out of everyone I've met so far, I've learnt something new or gained a skill. Now I can to put these into practice. 

What other passions and projects have you enjoyed exploring during your time at Guildhall?

I had the privilege of working on the Museum of London 'Beasts' exhibition. I did a solid 3 weeks in Scenic Art and was able to mingle with freelancers within the industry and learn some scenic skills at the same time. It was just a bunch of fun with a whole group of ex-Guildhallers mostly.

What's something you've learned that you feel will help you when you graduate?

Independently costing for shows. I often worry about being a freelancer and having to judge my work accurately within a budget as if I go overboard, it's coming out of my pocket. But from having the experience as a 3rd year, working on shows, quantifying and accurately producing costing sheets I feel more confident about this now.

What are you most interested in working in after you graduate?

I'm mostly geared towards Model/Prop Making. I have a real keen eye for details and working on highly accurate cuts. This has also drawn me towards bespoke furniture making where creativity is mixed with joinery. Although, this all being said, I like a bit of everything, so keeping my options open and branching into different fields is what would suit me best.
