Raymi Award 2025

Raymi Saldaña Rojas was one of MEI's most versatile and talented students: a flautist, pianist and guitarist who felt at home in a wide range of musical genres and styles. Besides being an amazing musician, Raymi was a wonderful friend and team-player. While we lost Raymi in a tragic accident in summer 2024, we will not lose the memories we have of him.

MEI's Raymi Award 2025 will recognise three young people who capture one of the areas in which Raymi stood out. In order to nominate a young person, please choose between the three categories. Provide a specific example that illustrates how the young person you are nominating has demonstrated the category. Young people nominated must live in Islington or attend school in the borough.

Character and Community Spirit: A good listener, helpful, supportive, patient, humble, a strong team player, and someone who contributes positively to their community.

Passion and Engagement with Music: Shows genuine enjoyment of music across multiple genres, is intuitive and culturally aware, and displays focus and expression when performing.

Musical Skill and Development:  A technically skilled multi-instrumentalist who is committed to practice, plays confidently by ear, and also demonstrates strong sight-reading abilities.

The deadline for nominations is 5pm on Monday 30 June 2025.

The three successful nominees will be informed on 3 July, and will be presented with their awards at New Sounds Festival which takes place at Milton Court on 8 July, from 6pm - 8.30pm.
