Guildhall Young Artists Taunton Open Days

If you are interested in joining Guildhall Young Artists (GYA) Taunton we would encourage you to attend an Open Day.

Our Open Days will give you an opportunity to visit music and drama classes, meet our specialist tutors, discover our facilities and ask questions.

If you are interested in one of our music courses, there will be practical opportunities to try out instruments too. We encourage you to have a look at the scheduled open days below.

Open days will be relaxed and informal, with all students invited to bring a family member or carer with them.

All visitors will be met by Head of GYA Taunton, Rachael Parvin, who will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Upcoming Open Days are listed below. Sign up to our mailing list to be the first to hear about new Open Days and other opportunities at GYA Taunton.

Open Day FAQs

Do I have to attend for the whole time (from 9am–11am or 11.20am–1.20pm)?

We recommend that you stay for as much of the full session as possible, so you can see for yourself the many choices available. You will be given a timetable that will be tailored to suit your interests and needs, so timings will be shorter for some students (e.g. ages 5–8). Your visit will include an introduction from the Head of Centre Rachael Parvin, a tour of the classes in action and an option to join in with existing classes or try an instrument.

I'm a parent/carer and I'd really like to attend with my child. Is that OK?

We are very happy for parents and carers to attend. Please email and specify the name of parents and carers that will be in attendance.

Will I be able to experience a class for myself?

Yes, there will be opportunities to take part in classes with other people attending the open day and existing GYA Taunton students.

Will I have an opportunity to speak with teachers or students?

Yes, there will be opportunities to ask questions and speak to GYA tutors, as well as to chat with GYA students.

I am interested in the Music Course and already play an instrument — do I need to bring this?

If you already play an instrument, we encourage you to bring this so that you can fully immerse yourself in the classes. However, this is not a requirement and you are just as welcome to observe.

I'm a bit nervous, will I be expected to do anything on the day?

GYA Taunton takes pride in being a welcoming, encouraging and creative space. We understand the importance of learning in a supportive environment in a way that is right for you. You are welcome to observe or to take part, we will be led by you.

I have a disability – do I need to let you know?

To give you the best experience we can, please contact with any relevant information or requirements.

Who do I contact to answer further questions?

Please forward any queries to and we will pass on to the relevant member of staff.

I've attended an Open Day, but I'm still not sure. What are my options?

If you enjoyed your visit but you’d like to experience some more classes for yourself and get a better understanding of our centre, you might like to sign up for a free taster session. Or if you decide that GYA Taunton is the right place for you, you may wish to sign up for the term!
