About Acting Summer School for Ages 12–15
This five-day course will help you connect with your inner creativity, develop your skills, and offer an insight into professional acting training in a fun, inclusive, welcoming and creative environment. Through practical acting classes you will have the chance to try new things, meet like-minded people, and work with industry professionals.
Who is the course for?
- Anyone aged 12 to 15 with a passion for acting and theatre
- No experience is necessary but a commitment to engage in the sessions is expected in order to make the most of the course
What can I expect?
You will work in a group of up to 16 participants, led by professional tutors. Sessions are all active and practical.
They will include:
- Voice and singing
- Movement
- How to stretch your imagination muscles
- Improvisation
- Working on sections of text
Do I need anything for the course?
- We will be using 'Wendy & Peter Pan' by Ella Hickson (adapted from the novel by J.M. Barrie) as a set text. You will need to source your own physical copy of the play to participate in the course.
- Comfortable clothes to move about in. Please bring a spare set as well (especially if the weather is warm)

Eligibility
- For everyone aged 12–15*
- No previous experience is necessary
- Participants must have sufficient English language skills to cope with course demands
- A willingness and desire to share your work with your peers is a necessity in order to participate fully

About the Course Tutor
The course has been developed by Emily Berrington.
You will work with a range of tutors and industry professionals appointed by the course leader.
Emily Berrington trained in acting at Guildhall School of Music & Drama and has since worked extensively on stage and screen. Her credits include Children’s Children and Machinal (Almeida Theatre), Dead Funny (Vaudeville Theatre), 24 (Fox/Sky), Outnumbered (BBC), The Inbetweeners 2 Movie (Bwark/Film 4) and Humans (AMC/C4).
Emily sits on the Guildhall audition panel and has been running workshops for actors/organisations for a number of years, which include the Guildhall BA and MA Acting course and The Actor’s Centre.
