*Equivalent to UK school years 8–11. We are happy to accept participants who will be in Year 8 in September but will turn 12 in July/August.

About Acting Summer School for Ages 12–15
This one-week in-person course will help you connect with your inner creativity, develop your skills and offer an insight into professional acting training in a fun, welcoming and creative environment. Through practical acting classes including voice, movement, imagination, improvisation and text work, you will have the chance to try new things, meet like-minded people, and work with industry professionals.
Who is the course for?
- Anyone aged 12–15 with an enthusiasm for acting
- No experience is necessary
What can I expect?
You will work in a group of up to 16 participants, led by professional tutors. Sessions are all active and practical.
They will include:
- Voice and singing (don’t panic – no solo singing!)
- Movement
- How to stretch your imagination muscles
- Improvisation
- Working on bits of text
Do I need anything for the course?
- Comfortable clothes to move about in. Please bring a spare set as well (especially if the weather is warm)
- Pen/pencil
- Paper
- Set texts may need to be purchased (details to be confirmed).

Participation Bursaries are available for this course. (Please note the application deadline for participation bursaries is 13 June 2022).

Eligibility
- For everyone aged 12–15*.
- No previous experience is necessary.
- Participants must have sufficient English language skills to cope with course demands.

Accommodation

Check-out: 10am, Saturday 6 August 2022
Accommodation is located in Sundial Court, the School's student halls of residence. Rooms will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Should we not be able to facilitate your booking, you will be notified via email and a full refund will be issued.
About the Course Tutor
You will work with a project director and industry professionals appointed by the course leader. These will be confirmed near to the course start date.
The course has been developed by Emily Berrington.
Emily trained in acting at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has since worked extensively on stage and screen. Her credits include Children’s Children and Machinal (Almeida Theatre), Dead Funny (Vaudeville Theatre), 24 (Fox/Sky), Outnumbered (BBC), The Inbetweeners 2 Movie (Bwark/Film 4) and Humans (AMC/C4).
Emily sits on Guildhall School's audition panel and has been running workshops for actors for a number of years, including Guildhall BA and MA Acting students, youth drama groups and The Actor’s Centre.
