About Prop Making

Led by Emma Glithero, from Guildhall School's Design Realisation team, this one-week in-person course will introduce you to a variety of prop making skills and techniques to use within theatre and beyond, and you can expect to finish the week bursting with new ideas and creative techniques to bring everyday materials to life. 

Who is the course for?

Anyone aged 16 and over, with an interest in prop making.

What can I expect?

The course will cover a wide range of tips and tricks for bringing ideas to life, which includes techniques in:

  • Sculpting
  • Mould making 
  • Polystyrene carving
  • Textures and paint effects
Do I need anything for the course?
  • Materials will be provided and you will be able to take home anything you make during the week
  • Please consider your choice of clothing and footwear, as you will be working with paint and other materials throughout the week. Old clothes, overalls and shoes are encouraged.

Accommodation is located in Sundial Court, the School's student halls of residence. Rooms will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Should we not be able to facilitate your booking, you will be notified via email and a full refund will be issued.

About the Course Tutor

The course is led by Emma Glithero.

Emma works at Guildhall School as a Design Realisation Assistant in the Production Arts Department, where they specialise in prop making for Guildhall’s productions. Prior to this, Emma worked as a freelance prop maker for film and events, including Merlin Entertainments Ltd.
