Biography & Pure profile

Iris Farquharson CV
What's been your highlight during your time at Guildhall?

It is quite hard to pick just one moment at Guildhall, but I absolutely loved working on Der Wald & Lucrezia as the Production Electrician. It was a fun challenge to manage a budget and a team, and look after a venue from a technical perspective. I also enjoyed creating the electronics and custom circuit boards for the large-scale wireless set electrics and practicals the show required.

What's been your highlight in the industry?

My proudest moment from the industry so far is when I programmed the lighting and sound for Paramount's Dexter the Experience by Fever. It tested my QLab skills! But overall, it was really rewarding to see the tech come together and be interacted with by cast and the public.

What other passions and projects have you enjoyed exploring during your time at Guildhall?

My main passions are lighting programming and software development. I combined these in my Grad Project where I explored interfaces and controllers for lights and consoles, making joysticks and gesture controllers function with ETC EOS.
It was also really exciting to program a drama on GrandMa3 in my last year at Guildhall.

What are you most interested in working in after you graduate?

Once I graduate, I hope to become a Lighting Programmer for theatre or immersive events. I love the collaborative and creative environment of these industries as well as the problem solving of programming and building systems that support the show or the chaotic input from the public.
