About the Summer Course 2024
Develop your performing arts skills, meet like-minded people and let your creativity flourish, in this fun five-day course for 10 to 18 year olds, packed full of workshops in music, drama, production arts and art & design.*
Music workshops will cover a variety of genres including rock, pop, musical theatre, classical, jazz, music production, DJing, songwriting and singing.
Drama workshops will include acting, script work, devising and improvisation. Students are invited to bring audition pieces or plays they are keen to develop.
Production arts workshops will include learning about stage lighting and stage management, and students will run the lighting and stage management of the final performance at the end of the week.
Art & design workshops (available Tuesday to Thursday) will be a fun introduction to all aspects of Printmaking. Taking inspiration from the Arts & Crafts Movement and artist William Morris, students can choose their own theme or use resources for inspiration to create images and designs for their own prints, such as ‘The Natural World’, ‘Save our Oceans’ or ‘Olympics going for Gold’.
The course will culminate in an exciting performance and exhibition on Friday afternoon, which will be shared with invited family and friends.
*Please note, the course will be tailored around individual interests specified on the booking form.
In addition to their music, drama, production arts and art & design classes, students will also be able to choose from a range of fun activities to take part in during the afternoon.
These include crafts (including painting, drawing, clay, and making marbled paper), magic tricks, board games and chess, as well as sports such as football, basketball and cricket.
These activities will run for one hour each afternoon and will be led by tutors.
Taking place at Richard Huish College, Taunton, we’ll have access to their music and drama facilities. This includes a Mac suite for LogicPro tuition in music production and use of the Pine Studio and Huish Theatre.
