During this period of lockdown, Guildhall is looking to create initiatives that will support the mental wellbeing of our community and audiences though creative interventions in their everyday.
These project briefs have been created with this in mind and will form part of the School, Culture Mile and City of London’s programme during this time.
The opportunities are open to all current students, staff and alumni. Keep an eye on the Guildhall School website for more call outs and opportunities in the coming months.

Consequences
This collaborative audio project aims to bring together the creative responses of five artists in relation to their experiences of quarantine. Inspired by the game 'Consequences', an artist will create a response to social distancing and isolation before passing this on to another artist, who will create a response from that stimulus. This process will then repeat with each artist creating something separately but in dialogue with the other artists. The work could include actors, spoken word artists, instrumentalists, singers and composers. The work will be audio-based, no longer than 20-minutes in length and involve five artists. We will have a professional music producer involved throughout the project, who will guide the creation of the work and bring the final piece together.
What we are looking for:
- Five artists from a range of disciplines, including (but not restricted to) musicians, actors, vocalists, poets or spoken work artists.
- Groups, ensembles and bands can also apply, providing social distancing guidelines are adhered to in the recording of your work.
Fees:
Student rate: £150 (exc VAT)
Professional rate: £250 (inc. VAT)
Project timeline:
25/05: Deadline for submissions
01/06 – 29/06: Recording

Pause Audio Commission
Culture Mile are looking to commission a number of new audio works, which can be accessed digitally by audiences during this period of social isolation. The audio will then form part of a larger sound work, presented in London Wall Place later in the year (situation allowing). The project will be supported by a professional music producer throughout, who will guide artists in the creation of their work.
We are looking for pieces broadly around ideas of pause and meditation, particularly utopia, oasis, escape, internal and imaginary worlds, and the natural world.
What we are looking for:
- We are looking to commission six recorded pieces of 30-minute audio content. These can be new pieces of work, work you have already created, or adapted work.
- Please be aware that work you select may be adapted to form part of a larger compositional work for the installation. Please ensure that any work submitted is your own IP.
