Professor of Flute

Guildhall School of Music & Drama

Permanent, Hourly Paid

Salary: £59.13 per hour including holiday pay

The Guildhall School of Music & Drama is seeking to appoint a Professor of Flute to support the School’s thriving WBP Department. The successful candidate will teach students at BMus and Masters levels, working as part of a committed team of experienced professors.   

 

We are seeking a professor with the following skills:  

  

  • A performer with significant and high-profile orchestral and solo experience, including as a principal player 

 

  • Dedicated to individual student development and following syllabus requirements 

 

  • Committed to regular teaching of students in 1:1 principal study lessons and in classes 

 

  • Experience of teaching at an advanced level 

 

The successful candidate will be an experienced, forward‑thinking, highly organised musician with deep knowledge of conservatoire‑level training in a relevant field. They will also have extensive experience of management and collaborative working within a complex and busy organisation, and excellent communication skills both written and verbal. They will demonstrate a strong commitment to championing an equitable and inclusive curriculum and culture in line with regulatory requirements and the ethos of the School.

Professor of Voice

Salary Range:  £50.88 - £78.86 per hour depending on experience

The Guildhall School of Music and Drama seeks to appoint exceptional vocal practitioners to join our distinguished and world-renowned Vocal and Opera Faculty. 

We are looking for an outstanding educator, passionate about fostering exceptional talent, and dedicated to inspiring artistic individuality.  As a teacher, they will promote and facilitate the development of a healthy, expressive and resilient vocal technique. 

The ideal candidate will be a highly accomplished vocal practitioner with extensive experience of conservatoire-level or equivalent teaching.  Providing one to one voice lessons and class teaching, they will offer pedagogical and artistic mentorship to undergraduate and postgraduate students. They will have specific knowledge and experience of Western classical vocal music and opera and will have the capacity to embrace diverse cultural influences, contemporary trends and new directions for the future of vocal performance; we are looking for someone who will celebrate tradition, encourage innovation and will be broad-minded about career choices available to students. 

They will bring creative energy and vision, an awareness of performer health and wellbeing, and a dedication to driving efforts towards diversity, equity and inclusion in our vocal community and curriculum. They will have the ability to connect Guildhall with musical networks at local, national and international levels and will possess the high level of organisational and personal skills necessary to manage a voice studio and to work collaboratively in a busy and thriving musical institution.

Production Management Supervisor/Lecturer

Fixed Term 6 months, Full Time (35 hours per week)
Salary: £49,140 to £55,000 per annum including Inner London Weighting

We are now recruiting for Production Manager /Lecturer to join our dynamic  Production & Design dept. The Production Manager/Lecturer plays a central role in supporting a diverse community of staff and students across a wide range of academic, creative, and production activities.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Associate Producer the Production Manager/Lecturer will teach Production Management and oversee School productions leading teams of Production and Design staff and students and liaising closely with colleagues from the departments of Music and Drama.  The Production Management Lecturer works within the academic framework of the Production and Design department to maintain the highest possible production values and support effective student learning.

Key responsibilities include

 

  1. To production manage a proportion of School productions, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk assessment, in conjunction with students on the Production and Design degree programmes, working closely with the Associate Producer.

 

  1. To oversee the build, fit up, on stage rehearsals, first night and strike of productions which are allocated to them. 

 

  1. To work with freelance directors, designers and lighting designers, interpreting their requirements, advising on the safety and feasibility of designs and ensuring best value and high production standards throughout the production process.

 

  1. Subsequent to productions to oversee the appropriate storage or disposal of production elements in accordance with departmental policy on sustainability.

 

  1. To develop, design, deliver and review the syllabus and materials for the teaching of production management at all levels of the programme. To teach, assess and supervise students working in the department, in the form of classroom and production-based teaching which may occur concurrently.

 

  1. Actively seek to implement the City of London’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy in relation to the duties of the post, and at all times give due regard to the health and safety of both themselves and others when carrying out their duties.

 

  1. Actively seek to implement the City of London’s Equal Opportunity Policy and the objective to promote equality of opportunity in relation to the duties of the post.

About You:

Educated to degree level with relevant professional experience

Experienced as a professional Theatre Production Manager

Skilled in communication and people management, able to work effectively with students and staff in time-pressured environments

Strong in report writing and IT, particularly Microsoft Office, with the ability to read, understand, and create budgets

Willing to undertake relevant professional training in Health & Safety and First Aid, if not already qualified
