Biography

Tim is a lifelong professional musician with decades of experience playing keyboards, guitar and drums.

He played keyboards for Nik Kershaw in the 1980s - including performing at Live Aid, was MD for East17 in 1995, recorded and toured with the BeeGees in the 1990s. Subsequently, Tim toured extensively with Johnny Hallyday in France and in 2017 Tim performed with Bros at the O2. Tim has recorded and toured with many artists over the years, including local funk and classic rock bands. Tim is also a composer and producer with a home studio and an eclectic palette.

Since 2004 he has been teaching guitar, keyboards and drums to students with a wide range of ages and abilities at a selection of schools in Somerset, and has been enjoying the challenge of teaching at GYAT since March 2022.

Tim employs a relaxed approach to teaching and tries to impart something of his experience to his pupils using visual, aural and written methods. Grades can be taken in guitar and drums through Trinity's Rock & Pop syllabus, and teaches keyboards mostly by ear and using chord charts. Nurturing bands for end of term performances is also an enjoyable part of the process at GYAT which enables students to gain valuable performance experience.
