Support a Scholarship
Studying in London has never been more expensive. Financial awards can mean the difference between being able to accept hard-won places at one of the leading performing arts institutions in the world, or being forced to decline the offer.
Guildhall School of Music & Drama provides scholarship support for over 44% of the student body.
For the 2022/23 academic year, our students will have to fund anything up to £26,565 for tuition fees alone. As financial costs for our students continue to rise, demand on the Guildhall School Scholarships Fund has increased substantially. Our goal is to ensure that anyone with the talent and ambition to excel is not constrained by personal circumstances.
Your support can help us achieve this goal and train the next generation of musicians, actors and production artists lighting up concert platforms, stages and screens around the world.
Scholarships enable talented students to access our world class training, regardless of their background or circumstances. However, in the last two years there has been a 19% increase in applications to this fund, and a 37% increase over the past four years. Applications are predicted to rise dramatically in the near future, due to the devastating financial impact of COVID-19, as well as fee increases for EU students, post-Brexit. We need to ensure that our scholarship fund is able to support this increase in demand.
Now more than ever, we rely on the generosity of our Guildhall community to help support our students. We need your help to make our training accessible to all. Your donation, however small, really will make a difference.
You can support a scholarship in two ways:
If you would like the opportunity to make a real impact on a student’s experience at Guildhall School you can create a scholarship in your name or in the name of a loved one. Named awards can support both UK and international students at undergraduate or postgraduate level, with a mix of fee and maintenance costs. Individual awards range from an entry level of £5,000 (£10,000 in opera) up to £30,000 per annum across the School’s music, acting, production arts and research programmes.
Multi-year awards to support all 2–4 years of an individual student’s training are also favoured by many donors. We would work closely with you to ensure that the scholarship criteria reflects your interests, and would invite you to be part of your matched student’s creative journey through regular opportunities to attend performances and events. Your valuable support will also be acknowledged in performance programmes and on our donor roll.
You can make a gift to our Scholarships Fund, which currently provides financial support to around half of our student body (over 500 students). All supporters who give above £1,000 to the Guildhall Scholarships Fund will receive an invitation to an exclusive event.
You can donate to the Scholarships Fund here, or by sending us a cheque addressed to the Guildhall School Trust.
Donors based in North American can donate via the British Schools and Universities Foundation (BSUF), CAF America or CAF Canada.
