Robert Levin In Residence: Talk and Q&A
Concert, Masterclass/Artist Conversation
Pianist Robert Levin, one of the world’s leading classical improvisation and Mozart scholars and performers, visits Guildhall School in his annual residency as International Chair of the Centre for Creative Performance and Classical Improvisation.
Professor Robert Levin has been providing a crucial contribution to our understanding of the creative approach to performance that was guiding European Art Music-making up until the 20th century. As a world-class performer, he regularly appears with leading orchestras and conductors in major music centres around the globe.
This event offers the chance to hear from Professor Levin in a talk and Q&A session. He will share findings from his extensive Research about the meaning of creativity in performance, particularly in the context of the performer's voice being expressed through improvised passages, and the implications of this for the listening experience and on the role of music making in society.
